APPLE AIRPODS VS SAMSUNG GALAXY BUDS REVIEW
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds and Apple’s AirPods can be classified as the best, original wireless headphones from two distinctive well-known phone brands. It might be quite difficult to choose between the Apple AirPod (2019), and the Samsung Galaxy buds that came in 2020, alongside the Galaxy S20 smartphone. This is because they both encompass great qualities that made them stand out from the rest, hence, the need for this review. When paired, the two earbuds permit you to tap to control calls, play/pause music or summon their respective voice assistant (Siri for Airpod or Bixby for Galaxy buds).
AIRPODS (2019) VS GALAXY BUDS: DESIGN
The Galaxy Buds came in blue, black, white and yellow variants. Unlike the AirPods, they have IP ratings. With a smaller user-friendly in-ear design, the buds fit tightly into your ear making it a perfect exercise companion. They also have silicon ear tips which means that you are getting better convenience and noise isolation.
Meanwhile, Apple’s AirPod came in just white colour with hard, plastic ear tips and long distending stems. It does not fit tightly into the ear because it lacks silicon ear tips or anything that could hold it in tightly during strenuous activities.
GALAXY BUDS VS AIRPODS (2019): SOUND
In contrast to the AirPods which permits you to select whether a sound is recorded or transferred through the left or right receiver, the Samsung Galaxy Buds dual-mic array doesn’t allow you to modify recording.
They both have decent, natural sound quality though not the best for audiophiles except for casual listeners. The default call-EQ of the Galaxy Buds seem to have a little heavier bass sound and slight background noise during phone calls than the AirPods. This could be a win for AirPods on this aspect.
AIRPODS (2019) VS GALAXY BUDS: BATTERY LIFE
Samsung Galaxy Buds incorporates 6 hours of battery life in the bud, with an extra 7 hours from the charging case. Which means that if you originally have a good AirPod, you can still purchase a new case to enjoy wireless charging benefits and longer battery life.
The wireless charging case can be used with a Qi-compatible charging mat, the AirPods wireless cases are not an exception to this. The Apple AirPods(2019) incorporates in the bud, 5 hours of battery life while the case offers about 20 hours extra charge. This means that aside from the wireless cases, Galaxy buds have better battery life.
GALAXY BUDS VS AIRPODS (2019): CONNECTIVITY
AirPods have H1 chips which aid it to connect easily with a very fast speed once it is opened and placed next to an iPhone for pairing. It synchronizes your iCloud account to enable other devices to connect quickly. They have quite a credible and stable connection.
Samsung Galaxy Buds does not support aptX, it uses use the company’s proprietary scalable codec. Though they both support wireless charging, operate through Bluetooth 5.0 and supports AAC, AirPods beats Samsung Galaxy Buds when it comes to connectivity.
While some persons will choose Apple AirPods for its sleek design, others may choose Galaxy Buds for better fit and comfort. Therefore, considering individual differences and preferences, none of the above mentioned wireless headphones is tagged as the overall best. Even though a Samsung smartphone owner can go for Apple’s AirPod and vice verse. It is safe to say that a Samsung user will get much more out of the Galaxy Buds while an iPhone user will get more out of AirPods.
